When Eddie Howe passed on the chance to manage Celtic in the summer of 2021, it was a decision the fans were clearly not happy with. But in the long run, it worked out well for the Hoops as they ended up bringing in Ange Postecoglou as his alternative and the rest is history. On the other hand, one cannot deny the success that the Englishman has enjoyed with Newcastle United.

Howe has transformed Newcastle United into a Champions League team and even ended their long wait for silverware last season, winning the League Cup. And even more impressively, he has done so without spending huge sums of money when compared to clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Now, it looks like Howe could end up handing another blow to Celtic. This time, Newcastle United have their eyes on a striker who has also been linked with the Hoops.

As reported by talkSPORT, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has held talks with Newcastle United. Howe is a long-term admirer of the English striker.

Calvert-Lewin is available on a free transfer this summer, having left Everton at the end of his contract. That is the primary reason Celtic have been linked with a move for the Englishman.

But with clubs like Newcastle United seemingly interested, that does decrease Celtic's chances of landing his signature drastically. Let's see what the future holds for Calvert-Lewin and where he ends up.

On the other hand, it appears that Celtic are on the verge of adding to their ranks at striker. They have already brought in Callum Osmand, a standout in Premier League 2 for Fulham last season. Shin Yamada is also believed to be on his way to Parkhead while Giuseppe Ambrosino of Napoli is also on their transfer radar.
