It will be very interesting to see in which positions Celtic try to strengthen this summer. Brendan Rodgers' side are closing in on a treble, having already won the Premiership and League Cup. Their last hurdle is the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen. Of course, that fixture holds happy memories for the supporters, and hopefully, more will be made soon.
Then, there will be the summer transfer window to deal with. Celtic must do their best to keep the core of their team together while also bringing in talent who will raise the overall quality of this team.
In recent week, Viljami Sinisalo has done a commendable job in the absence of the injured Kasper Schmeichel, who has another year on his contract. But could the Hoops still try to make an addition between the posts if the right opportunity is available?
Nathaniel Nwosu currently plays for Tayport in the sixth tier of the Scottish football pyramid. That has not stopped him from being linked with a move to Celtic though. As reported by The Herald, his club manager George Shields said:
"He’s six foot eight and I can see him getting a contract someplace, especially in Scotland.
“I don’t think he’ll have a problem getting a contract up here if I’m being honest.
“He’s only 19 years old so he has plenty of growing to do. Maybe not physically, but he can clearly play at a good level.
“There is some word that Celtic might want a look at him, as well but we’ve not had confirmation of that yet."
Celtic linked with Nigerian international out of nowhere
Even though the 19-year-old goalkeeper is currently playing his football in the sixth division of Scottish football, he is a full Nigerian international. He made his debut for the Super Eagles at 16 years and 10 months, playing against Costa Rica.
Of course, if Celtic end up signing someone like Nwosu, it would be a project signing rather than someone who is expected to come in and immediately become part of the first-team squad. It is very likely that he would be sent out on loan.
Nwosu does have the attributes to be a success story though. It remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making a move for him or not.
