It is no secret that Celtic could do with another option up front. Kyogo Furuhashi was never really replaced following his winter move to Rennes. Instead, Brendan Rodgers moved Daizen Maeda to a central role, and to be honest, it worked out brilliantly. But now, with Jota out injured for the foreseeable future, the Japanese international might need to move back to the flank again while the Hoops look to come up with a solution.
One of them would be signing a winger and sticking with Maeda as a striker with Adam Idah as his backup. The other would be signing another centre-forward and giving themselves a bit more flexibility.
Celtic have been linked with players in both positions. And now, it looks like an in-form Moroccan forward has caught their eye.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Celtic are tracking Moroccan forward Youssef El Kachati. The Hoops are looking to bolster their options for next season.
Celtic linked with move for 23-goal Moroccan striker
El Kachati currently plays for Telstar in the second division of Dutch football. He has enjoyed an excellent season with them.
He has scored 23 goals across all competitions and also provided 6 assists. Even more impressively, he is capable of playing not only as a striker but on the wing as well, which will serve Celtic well in their current situation.
At 25 years of age, El Kachati is also entering his prime years on the pitch. Other than Telstar, he also has a solid scoring record from his time at Quick Boys, for whom he managed 30 goals in 53 appearances.
It remains to be seen if the Hoops end up making a move for El Kachati this summer or not. Yes, his numbers are very impressive; there is no doubt about that.
But at the same time, one cannot overlook the fact that they have come in the second and third divisions in the Netherlands. So, will they translate if he makes the jump to Celtic? That is certainly a discussion worth having before making any move if you are the Hoops.
