Celtic make positive announcement but fans remain unhappy

Celtic have made a positive announcement but that was not nearly enough to make the fanbase happy this summer.

There is only one thing that Celtic fans want right now. That is for some quality signings to be made before the Champions League qualifiers. But as things stand, that seems unlikely. No move seems imminent, which is remarkable, considering it has been weeks since Nicolas Kuhn, a regular starter, left for Como FC and was not replaced.

Instead, Luis Palma also headed for the exit door. And the only reason that Marco Tilio has not left yet is because the club do not have enough options left on the wings.

This is not what you expect from the Scottish champions. The club should be pushing to build a team that can get into the Champions League. Instead, it looks like they are waiting on the result of the qualifier before making any significant moves. Only £3 million has been spent on transfer fees this summer.

That has resulted in everything else becoming secondary. And when the club announced that Johnny Kenny had been handed a contract extension, the fans wanted only one thing.

It is not hard to figure out what the Celtic fans want. Just go to the comment section of Kenny's contract announcement. One wrote: "Sign some players."

Another Celtic fan added: "Read. The. Room."

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Celtic. Right now, if we had to guess, do not expect any signings to be made before the Champions League qualifier. At least any major ones.

This, to us, feels like the club waiting to find out if they will be in the Champions League or not, before deciding on how much money they will spend on new signings. Of course, in the eyes of many, that is a counterproductive way of thinking. But it is what it is.
