Wilfried Nancy's tenure as Celtic manager has got off to an abysmal start. He inherited a side in form when he took over from Martin O'Neill. However, he has won just two of his seven games in charge, losing the other five.

There are concerns that Nancy's time at Celtic Park will be short. However, if they are not going to sack him, then they will need to back him. The transfer window is now open, and there is a key area where the Hoops need to strengthen.

A new striker should be the first action item at Celtic. Kelechi Iheanacho has not featured for the Hoops since last October. Shin Yamada is yet to score in six Scottish Premiership games this season. Johnny Kenny has managed four league goals this season. Celtic's other striking option, Calum Osmand, is also out with a hamstring injury.

Who could Celtic bring in in January?

An obvious target would be Diego Rossi of the Columbus Crew. He had a fantastic record under Nancy with the Crew, scoring 45 goals with 19 assists in 101 games. They had great success together, winning MLS Cup and Leagues Cup.

Rossi's versatility would make him a good option for Celtic, as well as up front, he can play on either flank and as an attacking midfielder. Nancy will want to bring in his own players in his first transfer window as Celtic boss.

Another name who has been linked with Celtic in the past is Evan Ferguson. He is currently on loan at AS Roma from Brighton & Hove Albion. However, there have been reports that his deal with the Serie A side could be cut short.

Ferguson's time with Roma has not been fruitful as he has scored just once in 12 games in Italian soccer's top flight. However, Celtic fans will know all about him as he scored twice against the Hoops in the Champions League last month.

Sekou Mara of Strasbourg could also be an option for Celtic. He is in a similar situation to Ferguson. Mara is currently on loan at Auxerre from Strasbourg. However, it is not going well for him in Ligue 1, as he is yet to score in 12 games this campaign.

A coup for Celtic would be signing Troy Parrott from AZ Alkmaar. The former Tottenham Hotspur forward Parrott recently starred for the Republic of Ireland against Hungary, where he netted a hat-trick.
