Right now, Celtic fans are waiting for the club to go out and make some signings. But nothing seems imminent at the moment, which is remarkable, considering how things have turned out over the summer window so far. The Hoops have spent just £3 million on transfer fees. The squad seems much weaker, and stagnant, compared to a year ago.

On the other hand, a lot of eyes will be on former players as well and what the future holds for them in this summer transfer window. Celtic have already landed a significant windfall recently, when Jeremie Frimpong joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen.

Another player they are believed to have a sell-on clause for is Matt O'Riley. The Danish midfielder moved to Brighton & Hove Albion just last summer, but he is being linked with plenty of top teams right now and an exit might be very possible. It is believed that the Seagulls could be open to offers in the region of £30 million, which could bring in a modest windall for Celtic.

All summer, O'Riley has been linked with a move to Italy. Clubs like Juventus, AS Roma, Napoli and Atalanta have all been rumoured to have an interest in the Dane. But now, a French club appear to have entered the race for his signature.

As reported by L'Equipe, Marseille are considering signing a midfielder this summer, likely on loan. The possibility of the Danish international has been studied, and he discussed the French club's environment with his compatriot Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

It remains to be seen how things will turn out and whether a move is made or not. But both sides seem to be giving it a consideration, that is for sure.

If O'Riley does make a loan move, it would mean that there would be no sell-on fee for Celtic this summer. But one would imagine that an obligation, or an option, would be attached to any such deal for Brighton to agree to it.
