Greg Taylor's six-year run at Celtic looks set to come to an end this summer. Brendan Rodgers made it clear on more than one occasion while speaking to the media that he wanted the left-back to stay and felt that both Kieran Tierney and he could work in the same squad. But it looks like the 27-year-old has decided that it is in his best interest to leave with his contract running out.

It is understandable why. A Scottish international should not want to be a cover option at 27 years of age. That sort of competitive aspiration must be respected and shows why Taylor managed to succeed at Celtic, even when many had written him off on numerous occasions.

Now, it remains to be seen where he ends up next. There is a ton of uncertainty around Taylor's next destination.

For a while, it had looked like he was set to join PAOK in Greece. There had even been some speculation about an agreed contract. But according to Mark Hendry’s Substack (via CeltsAreHere), Taylor is now weighing up a late approach from FC Copenhagen.

Let's see what Taylor decides to do next. He was an important member of this Celtic team for many years and we can only wish him the best of luck in his next step.

As for Celtic, they need to find a replacement for him at left-back. Right now, they are believed to be closing in on a move for Hayato Inamura, who is capable of playing there, although he is primarily a centre-back. But one would imagine that the Hoops will try to bring in a specialist in that role.

Speculation about a move for Josh Doig has been growing. But with Juventus also interested, signing him won't be easy.
