There are plenty of rumours floating around about Celtic right now and at times, it is hard to verify them. So, it is important to keep an eye out for reliable sources and one has confirmed that a 23-year-old centre-back is keen on joining the Hoops this summer. Not only that, discussions are already underway to sign him as well.

There are a number of positions where Celtic need to strengthen this summer. One of them is left-sided, preferably left-footed, centre-back. There is some positive news in that regard.

As reported by Anthony Joseph, Celtic are in talks to sign Albirex Niigata centre-back Hayato Inamura. Discussions have progressed well and the 23-year-old is keen to join the Scottish champions.

If the move is successful, one would imagine that Inamura would come in as the centre-back partner to Cameron Carter-Vickers. That is a role that Celtic have struggled to fill for quite some time. The likes of Gutaf Lagerbielke, Auston Trusty, Maik Nawrocki and Yuki Kobayashi have failed to establish themselves in that area of the pitch.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Inamura. If reports in Japan are accurate, then a move might be even more advanced than Joseph suggests.

Inamura is 23 years of age and has not played a ton of senior level football so far. But he seems to have done enough to catch the eye of Celtic. His versatility could be great for the Hoops as well, as he is also capable of playing as a left-back.

Of course, there are other centre-backs that Celtic have been linked with lately as well. So, if they fail to sign Inamura, they would still have alternative targets in this summer window. Let's see what happens.
