Celtic midfielder Benjamin Nygren has been in incredible form this season, helping the Celts out during a difficult season that has seen three managerial changes. He is still working to push the Hoops forward in an intense title race, and he has spoken about his season to the press.

Nygren arrived in Glasgow in the summer for a fee of £1.7 million, and to date, has scored 19 goals in the green and white. Fans have been questioning the midfielder right from the start, with some thinking he doesn't contribute enough in other areas of his game, but it's undeniable that his debut season at Celtic has been great.

Now, he has reflected on that first campaign. He said to Sportbladet:

"It has been a really good season for me personally. The best of my career, and I feel like I have been given exactly the role I wanted at Celtic. I can be creative from my position in midfield, create a lot going forward and individually it has been a good season. Team-wise, it has been a bit tough, but we hope and believe that we will win the league this year."

Bold words from the player to say that Celtic will win the league, but we know that he'll do everything he can to sway things in the Hoops' favour.

Celtic face a problem in the summer

Since Nygren has had such a good season in a Celtic shirt, there will undoubtedly be interest in him at the end of the season. If his Sweden side qualifies for the World Cup, then even more eyes will be on him over in America.

The Hoops can't afford to lose the in-form midfielder. He really pushes this team forward, and although people will argue that he often "goes missing", the goal tally he offers is too much to lose. If he can keep up his goalscoring antics next campaign, then it'll be clear that we have a real player on our hands.

Nygren is a player that the next manager can build around. With Jens Berthel Askou and Robbie Keane currently leading the race to become the next head coach, they may look at the Swede and be confident he has a place in their team. Of course, it could go the other way, and he could be moved on in the summer should he not fit the system that they are going for.

We won't know how much of a role he'll play in the team until we have a new manager through the door, but for now, it looks like it'll be a big one for the player.
