Celtic are always on the lookout for players who they can develop at Parkhead before moving them on for a far larger transfer fee. Of course, there are some occasions when they do end up spending the majority of their careers with the Hoops. Scott Brown is a great example of that. The club broke the record for transfer between two Scottish clubs when they signed the midfielder from Hibernian and he went on to become one of their most successful captains.

The fee that Celtic shelled out to sign Brown from Hibernian remains the record. But they might need to break that if they want to sign Lennon Miller from Motherwell.

The midfielder has enjoyed a meteoric rise. At 18 years of age, not only is he a starter for Motherwell but has also captained the side on a few occasions already. That just goes to show how highly he is regarded.

Unsurprisingly, Celtic are believed to be interested in signing Miller from Motherwell. But they are not the only ones. In fact, there are some elite clubs with an eye on the Scottish midfielder.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Miller captained the Scotland Under-19s in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with France at Falkirk. Celtic and Rangers reps were joined by scouts from Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Aston Villa. They were keen to see the 18-year-old midfielder face a top-quality French outfit.

So, Celtic appear to be facing some top competition to sign Miller. As a result, the club might need to move quickly.

Do not be surprised if Celtic try to sign Miller in the January transfer window and then send him back on loan to Motherwell for the remainder of the season. That is a deal that could work in favour of all three parties involved. Let's see what happens.
