International breaks are always a worry. Especially as we get to a critical point in the season. Martin O’Neill has had multiple injuries to deal with in his time at Celtic this season; he wouldn't want more bad news from this last round of internationals.
He and Celtic fans would have been concerned at reports suggesting Auston Trusty had picked up an injury with the US team. Cover at centre half remains thin, although Benjamin Arthur has stepped in well at times. But even so, we’d all want to see Trusty fit and available for selection for the upcoming games.
Although he wasn’t selected for the first of the two games this period, Trusty played the full 90 minutes for the US in a 2-0 defeat against Portugal. He picked up many positive reviews for his performance and impressed despite the defeat.

Missing the earlier Belgium match, where the US played poorly, wouldn’t have been a problem. Trusty may well now be securing his place in the US World Cup squad. But the sight of him on the ground at the end of the game in pain did look worrying.
Thankfully, it all looks positive as far as Trusty is concerned. The player had been posting on social media about his time with the US squad. Trusty was asked about the possible injury by a Celtic fan and quickly responded online to confirm he was fine. “Just cramped in both calves at the same time. All good mate, thank you."

Of course, we’ll need to see how that looks when he returns to Glasgow. Trusty had missed some matches recently when suspended, so maybe the full match didn't help him much. A long plane ride back from the US isn't ideal either, but you'd hope he’s claimed the comfy seats for the flight!
Whether O’Neill uses him for Dundee on Sunday remains to be seen. He’ll be getting updates on the players overall as those away with their countries get back to Lennoxtown. Having Trusty available would be a boost and would avoid a distraction ahead of the next game.
