Celtic have been dealt an injury scare during their Europa League clash with Celta Vigo on Thursday night. The Bhoys took the lead two minutes into the second half and the game is ongoing at the time of writing.
But during the second half, young talent Callum Osmand has had to withdraw with what appears to be an injury. The 20-year-old recently spent weeks sidelined with a muscular issue, and he returned with a bang over the weekend.
The Wales youth international scored twice before being replaced at half-time to make sure he didn't overdo it in terms of muscular load upon his return.
The striker, who impressed on the left wing, earned his start against Celta Vigo in a crucial Europa League clash, and he looked bright in the first half, appealing for a penalty after a light shove, though he would have been better served staying on his feet.
In any case, he had to be withdrawn in the 57th minute due to what appeared to be an injury setback. The forward pulled up suddenly and requested a substitution, prompting Martin O'Neill to send on James Forrest in his place.
Osmand did not look pleased leaving the pitch, showing a concerned expression as he hobbled down the sideline with the club medic.
It's possible Osmand felt some cramp in the impacted area and took himself off before it was too late, but we will have to see what the outcome is after the game, with the forward likely requiring a scan.
It would be a cruel blow if the forward has suffered another muscular injury, given how well he has played upon his return. It would be especially cruel because Jota is nearing full fitness, as is Yang Hyun-jun, and both of those players are likely to be the main competitors on the left, meaning it could be difficult for Osmand to find regular minutes when he returns if he is out for a considerable period.
Let's see what news comes of the potential setback in the next couple of days.
