Celtic have been handed a significant injury concern during the international break, with winger Haissem Hassan now struggling with an injury issue.
The winger was eased into action after arriving on a £9million deal from Real Oviedo, having represented Egypt at the World Cup, starting pre-season much later than the majority of his teammates.
The winger produced some sharp early performances, but like many of his Celtic teammates, he has struggled over the last couple of weeks. Hassan was hoping to shake off his club woes with his national team during this extended three-week period, but he will not have that opportunity.
Egypt boss Hossam Hassan has confirmed that Hassan has picked up an injury that will render him unavailable for the entirety of this window.
Hassan said: "Haissem Hassan is receiving intensive treatment just now. But I am not worried about his absence because we have a lot of excellent players to replace him.
"Haissem is a vital technical asset for our long-term vision, but his recent injury made it impossible for him to join us for this camp. We prioritise player health and full physical recovery above all else and we expect him back once he is 100 per cent fit.
"We cannot halt our progress or make excuses because of injuries. The secret to our success lies in navigating these difficulties and I assure everyone that the team are fully ready."
Celtic have been short of wingers of late, but they will be helped by the return of Yang Hyun-jun after this international break, with the winger set to return from the Asian Games, where he and his South Korea teammates have reached the knockout phase.
Celtic have Jota to come back from his long-term absence, but the Portuguese star will not return until late October, provided everything goes well between now and then. Camilo Duran had been performing well out wide, but he has struggled both out wide and centrally during the run of three defeats Celtic have suffered.
It remains to be seen what injury Hassan has suffered, and indeed how long he has been out. The silver lining for Celtic is that this international break spans three weeks, so there is every chance, if the injury is not too significant, that the winger will be back by the time the Hoops actually return to action.
