Celtic are said to already have the green light to snap up a new goalkeeper, but they remain motionless in their pursuit. The Bhoys just cannot seem to get their act together when it comes to summer transfers, still managing just one new signing so far.
Camilo Duran was signed for £5.5million from Qarabag, but no other new signings have joined him to date. Daizen Maeda looks set to leave another hole as he prepares to join Ipswich Town for £10million, and he could be followed by Reo Hatate and Arne Engels.
Celtic have serious holes to fill ahead of the season starting on a week Monday, and the starting goalkeeper position is one of them. Kasper Schmeichel retired this summer, and while Viljami Sinisalo is an option, Martin O'Neill clearly wants a new starting keeper.
Celtic have a clear road to sign Dinko Horkas
Las Palmas goalkeeper Dinko Horkas has been linked all summer, and according to CeltsAreHere, the Crotatian goalkeeper would happily make the move after the Canaries side missed out on promotion back to LaLiga last season, losing in the playoffs.
Las Palmas are also said to have rejected an offer from another club, leaving the path to sign Horkas wide open, especially given his stance on a Glasgow move. But still Celtic have not made a serious move, with the Spanish club reportedly looking for a fee somewhere between £6-7million.
A 27-year-old is going to cost that this day in age, and Rangers actually recently signed Ivor Pandur, who is 26 years of age, for £6million earlier this summer.
But like all of Celtic's business this summer, there seems to be no rush or urgency to get the deal done. Horkas has been the most credible link so far this summer, but unless a deal comes out of the blue, it doesn't look as though any goalkeeper signing is close.
It feels as though Sinisalo will end up starting the new season, and who knows? Celtic could end up turning to another cheap veteran signing to tide them over.
If they want Horkas, they are going to have to pay, but that doesn't seem to be something the Bhoys will readily do this summer, despite the fact they will likely make upwards of £40million in player sales alone.
