There is only one thing that has stopped Kieran Tierney from reaching the very top of the game. When fit and at his best, he earned himself links to clubs like FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. Unfortunately, injuries have always remained an issue for the Scottish left-back. That is the main reason that Arsenal decided not to extend his deal and the Scot felt that it was time to return to boyhood club Celtic.
Of course, Celtic fans will welcome Tierney back with open arms. He is a hero returning home. Unfortunately, there is now doubt about when this return will take place.
Tierney was able to finish the season with Arsenal without picking up any sort of injury. But unfortunately, it looks like he was not so lucky while on international duty with Scotland.
There is some bad news for Celtic. As announced by the Scotland national team, Scott McTominay and Tierney both withdrew from the Scottish squad due to injury.
Celtic fears come true as Kieran Tierney injury confirmed
The extent of the issue is not clear. Tierney played 68 minutes in Scotland's recent game against Iceland. He has rarely played that much in recent years.
One can only hope that it is a minor issue. If that is the case, the timing works out as well, as there is no club football on the horizon. That being said, no injury is ever good news. Hopefully, Tierney returns as soon as possible.
Of course, this has always been the worry surrounding Tierney. His quality has never been in question. But unfortunately, his ability to remain fit is. That is why Celtic need to have a reliable backup option available at all times. But unfortunately, it looks like Greg Taylor is on his way out this summer, with his contract running out.
