There is a lot to be frustrated about when it comes to Celtic right now. The club simply have not been active or ambitious enough in the summer transfer window. It had started off brilliantly, with plenty of quick deals being made. But then, things have slowed down completely and almost come to a halt. Other than the loan signing of Jahmai Simpson-Pusey from Manchester City, the Hoops have made no other additions to Brendan Rodgers' squad in recent weeks.
Of course, this is something that needs to change. That being said, one has to count the positives as they come our way as well.
Celtic fans are always eager to see players come through the club's youth system and become first-team regulars. And one such player has been handed a contract extension.
As reported by the club's official website, Dane Murray has signed a new contract extension until June 2028. Rodgers said about the move:
"Dane is a young player I have really enjoyed working with and is someone who has really developed well across the past few seasons.
"I know there is so much more to come from him and I believe he can have a really successful future with us.
"He has a brilliant attitude to the game and is great team-mate within our squad. He is very deserving of this new contract and I am delighted for him."

It does not feel like Stephen Welsh is ever going to become a key player for Celtic. So, it might be time for him to consider a change of scenery and join a team where he is going to get consistent playing time.
If Welsh does end up leaving, someone like Murray can step up and take his place in the first-team squad. And who knows, he could end up getting a bit of playing time as well.
Murray first broke into the first-team picture during the early days of Ange Postecoglou as Celtic manager, when the club had a paper-thin squad and the Australian was scrambling for options. And the youngster actually was pretty impressive.
But after a couple of early appearances, we never saw him feature again during the Postecoglou era. Four years have passed since then. One would imagine Murray has developed as a player over that period of time. And it might be the right opportunity to bring him back into the fold.
