Things are picking up pace in the summer transfer window all around Europe and it is hard not to feel that Celtic are falling behind a bit. Since the early moves for Kieran Tierney and Benjamin Nygren, the Hoops have not made any notable additions to the squad that will have an immediate impact on Brendan Rodgers' starting XI. There are some areas in need of that type of reinforcement though, particularly on the right flank and up top.
While Celtic continue to move at a glacial pace, the club's former players have at least given the fans some news to keep an eye out on. And it appears that merely a year after leaving Parkhead, Juventus could be getting closer to signing Matt O'Riley.
O'Riley had a difficult and disappointing debut campaign with Brighton & Hove Albion. He suffered an injury straight after arriving and did not find himself playing regular football for the Seagulls until towards the end of the season. Even that was enough to catch the eye of Juventus though.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Nottingham Forest have agreed personal terms with Douglas Luiz and are now pushing to get the deal done soon as talks with Juventus are accelerating. Juve's main option as a new midfielder remains O'Riley.
'Agreed' - Fabrizio Romano drops major news about Celtic hero
It remains to be seen if Luiz's move to Nottingham Forest goes through. If it does, that could set the wheels in motion for O'Riley to end up at Juventus.
That would be quite the move for the Danish international midfielder. When Celtic signed him in early 2022, he was playing in League One for MK Dons. It has been quite the journey, that is for sure.
Celtic are believed to hold a sell-on clause as well. So, let's see how this entire situation plays out over the remainder of the window.
