After the frenzy of midweek and the brilliant away draw against Bayern Munich, Celtic fans would have been disappointed to see their side lose at Easter Road to Hibernian. The game was not without its controversy at the end but ultimately, a loss is a loss. The Hoops could have and should have been better on the day and they need to improve significantly the next time they take to the pitch.
It is safe to say that the Rangers' defeat later in the day has lifted the mood a bit for the Celtic fans. They lost 2-0 at Ibrox against St Mirren.
Naturally, questions are being asked once again about the future of Philippe Clement, who cannot seem to turn things around for the Rangers. And yet, after being handed a long-term contract extension earlier in the season, he has not been shown the exit door by the club even though Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Mick Beale were sacked when the team was in much better positions.
When asked about his future, Clement has put the ball in the court of the Rangers board. As reported by The National, the Belgian manager said:
"Those are things the board need to decide.
"In the end, I believe these players want to do the right things. I believe I can get results with these players, but I'm also very disappointed with what we showed today, and I'm responsible for that."
Celtic fans will love Philippe Clement's comments about future
It is safe to say that time is running out for the Rangers to get those results that Clement is talking about. This could very well have been their last chance to make something out of this title race and they failed to take advantage of Celtic's stumble, again.
Of course, Celtic cannot waste time dwelling on the Rangers' result. They have plenty to be worried about themselves after losing to Hibernian.
The league title race might be as good as over, but once such defeat and they will be out of the Scottish Cup. So, the Hoops need to be more careful and end the season strong by winning the treble.
