It is important not to get carried away after just one performance but Sebastian Tounekti has managed to catch the attention of Celtic fans following his display against Kilmarnock. The Tunisian international had shown that quality at Hammarby as well and the question was whether it would translate to the more physical Scottish game. Well, based on what we saw this Sunday, he should not have much of a problem.

Tounekti was excellent. He was a breath of fresh air in a team that has largely played 'boring' football for several months now.

Naturally, fans were full of praise for him after the game. But it is not just the fans who seem to have taken notice of Tounekti's performance against Kilmarnock.

Brendan Rodgers was full of praise for the Tunisian international as well. As reported by CeltsAreHere, the Celtic manager told BBC Scotland about Tounekti:

"He’s brilliant. He has that physicality and speed.

“He can do everything really and he plays with joy, which is what it is about and we’ve been looking for that quality."

One can only hope that Tounekti is able to build from here. A starting spot is certainly up for grabs right now and if he can deliver consistent performances for a few weeks, he might immediately become a nailed-on starter for the Hoops.

On the other hand, the same cannot be said about Michel-Ange Balikwisha, the other winger that Celtic signed this summer. The club had been linked with him going back to the previous summer transfer window but it is hard to see why.

Balikwisha looks like the complete opposite to Tounekti, someone who seems afraid to make a mistake. But in trying to avoid making one, he is doing much of note either. And that is not what you want to see from a Celtic winger. Let's just hope that this is part of him settling in and once he does that, he will play with a lot more confidence and directness.

At the end of the day, the win against Kilmarnock does bring some much-needed positivity to the club. They now need to build on this result and go on a good run of form to further increase the gap between themselves and the Rangers, which already stands at nine points, and we are barely in mid-September.
