There have not been too many positives for Celtic in recent weeks. That has been pretty clear. They failed to make the Champions League, drew at Ibrox against arguably the worst Rangers side in recent memory and then failed to meet minimum expectations on deadline day. It is pretty easy to see why the supporters are not happy with how things have turned out for the Glasgow giants.

That being said, it can always be worse. Just ask the Rangers. This was supposed to be the start of something special for the Ibrox club, who have new investors in place alongside a new manager.

Truth be told, they did spend significant money trying to improve their squad. But it looks like it resulted in them taking several steps in the wrong direction. After five league games, they are without a win. And they were also handed a 9-1 aggregate defeat by Club Brugge in the Champions League qualifiers.

Naturally, most of their fans are hoping for Martin to be shown the exit door after he became the first Rangers manager in 47 years to go winless in his first five league games. But it looks like that is not in the plans, despite some contrary reports in the Scottish media.

BBC released the latest edition of the Scottish Football Podcast this morning. And the title says it all. Russell Martin 'going nowhere soon'.

That's another major outlet that seems to believe that Martin is set to remain at Ibrox for the foreseeable future. And it is not hard to see why the Rangers might be reluctant to part ways already.

Even though there is a feeling of inevitability around the sacking, that is expected to be an expensive process. The Rangers have already spent a lot this summer. So, they will want to give Martin every chance of turning things around.
