This is a tough time for Celtic, there is no doubt about that. The fans want change after what was arguably the worst transfer window in club history. Despite that, it is hard to imagine any real changes taking place at Parkhead. But one can hope, and that is what the supporters seem to be doing at the moment.
The performances on the pitch have not helped. Their latest result was, thankfully, a win against Kilmarnock. It helped take them nine points clear of the Rangers and keep up with Hearts.
Rodgers' contract runs out at the end of the season and while an extension has not been ruled out, it will be tough to find an agreement if there are no major changes at the club being made. On the other hand, Daizen Maeda's recent admission that he wanted to leave the Hoops in the sumer has made things even tougher for the boss.
As reported by Football Insider, Rodgers is doing all he can to keep Maeda focused on the task at hand. He recently admitted that he wanted to leave Celtic in the summer.
Brendan Rodgers decision confirmed after worrying Celtic claim
Well, it is safe to say that Maeda did not the move that he wanted this summer. But he seems to remain committed to the task at hand for the time being, as he scored at the weekend.
That being said, on numerous occasions, we have seen that when players make such admissions, exits do end up happening in the not too distant future. Will that be the future with Maeda as well?
For Celtic, the Japanese player is vital right now, especially after other key players have departed in recent times. So, they will be hoping that he remains as long as possible.
