Celtic have been very open to the idea of returns in recent times. Brendan Rodgers was reappointed as manager in the summer of 2023 despite the circumstances in which he had left in 2019 to join Leicester City in the middle of the season. The next to return was Jota, who had left just 18 months prior but failed at Al-Ittihad and Rennes. Kieran Tierney will be heading back to Glasgow soon as well, having already signed a pre-contract.
Another player who has been linked with a Celtic return in recent times is Kyogo Furuhashi. It was in late January that he left the club to join Rennes in Ligue.
The move has proven to be a major mistake for Kyogo and Rennes. The Japanese forward has barely played since then, and was recently left out of their matchday squad for the derby game against FC Nantes. Thus, it feels like the writing is on the wall.
Yet, there are a lot of Celtic fans who are unsure about bringing back Kyogo. He is 30 years old and has never looked at his best under the management of Brendan Rodgers. Also, the form of Daizen Maeda means that the Hoops have never really felt his absence. It is a different player that the supporters want to see back at Parkhead.
Celtic fans want 27-year-old player's return instead of Kyogo
We recently ran a poll, asking who the fans wanted to see the club bring back. Kristoffer Ajer, currently at Brentford, got more than half of the votes. It was close between Odsonne Edouard and Kyogo, but the Frenchman slightly edged it and was second.
Out of these three, which former Celtic player would you want back this summer?

Of course, bringing back Ajer would be very difficult. He is playing regular first-team football for Brentford at this point in time. There has been some speculation about a return but on paper, it feels almost impossible to pull off.
Bringing back Edouard might be easier though. He underwhelmed for three seasons at Crystal Palace and was sent out on loan to Leicester City this season. That has proven to be a bad move for the French striker.
Edouard has not featured in a Premier League game for Leicester City since early November, when he played a few minutes against Manchester City. Between now and then, he has only made the bench on one occasion. Thus, it would be an understatement to say that he is not in the Foxes' plans.
