Celtic are aiming to win another treble. The Hoops have already won the League Cup and are just one point away from winning their fourth-straight Premiership title as well. Next week, the focus will be on the Scottish Cup, when they will take on St Johnstone in the semi-final at Hampden Park. Having lost to them away in Perth recently, nobody will be taking the opposition lightly going into the game.

Of course, another treble would represent Celtic's sixth one in nine years. Of course, they have been the best team in Scotland by some distance lately. But even then, that would be a remarkable achievement.

It is not easy winning this consistently, even if you are much better than the rest. Things can get especially tricky in the cup competitions, where one bad day at the office can end it. So, the Hoops deserve a ton of credit for what they have achieved over the years.

Yet, there remain those down south who downplay Celtic's achievements due to the state of Scottish football as a whole. The latest to do that is Manchester United legend, Teddy Sheringham.

As reported by The Scotsman, Sheringham said while talking about Brendan Rodgers and Celtic:

"I mean, he’s going to win a treble with Celtic isn’t he?

“But what’s the competition like up there at the moment? Celtic just sweep everything up, and would they be doing that without Brendan? You would have to look at the competition and say that they probably would."

Sheringham then went on to add:

"He doesn’t really have to do that much up there to win the league does he?"

Firstly, winning a treble is never easy, no matter what opposition you are up against. We have seen signs of that lately in Celtic's game, where they have lost plenty of games because they have let their performances slip.

It has not always been simple for the Hoops either. There have been seasons where they have had to come from behind in the title race in the second half of the season to win the league. Ange Postecoglou's debut season and Rodgers' return campaign come to mind in that regard. They have had to deal with difficult cup finals. And of course, the complete rebuild of the squad in the summer of 2021. It has not been as easy as many would have you believe.
