The takeover by the American consortium, involving the 49ers, is complete. Yet, it does not look like a ton has changed for the Rangers. After being linked with managers like Jose Mourinho and Marco Rose, they ended up appointing Russell Martin. Now, we are not saying it can't work. Look at how Ange Postecoglou did at Celtic. But in terms of name value and making a statement appointment, this is not what their supporters would have been expecting.

It looks like the Rangers are struggling to get their transfer deals over the line as well. Even ones involving youth level players.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Emirhan Demircan is leaving Bayern Munich to join FC Utrecht as a free agent. The youngster turned down offers from Besiktas, Rangers and Hoffenheim.

Very recently, the Rangers were being linked with a move for one-time Ballon d'Or winner, Luka Modric. But as it turns out, they cannot convince a Bayern Munich youth standout to join them.

On the other hand, it looks like Celtic are moving fast this summer and are eager to get their business done as early as possible, with Champions League qualifiers coming up. They have already reportedly started talks with three wingers. They are Michel-Ange Balikwisha, Sondre Orjasaeter and Benjamin Nygren.

On the other hand, Celtic are believed to have two Scottish left-backs in the sights as well as they look to provide backup for Kieran Tierney. They are James Penrice of Hearts and Josh Doig of Sassuolo. It remains to be seen if they have better luck than the Rangers had with Demircan.

As for the Rangers, they clearly have a lot of work to do if they want to catch up with Celtic. But right now, they do not seem to be doing enough to even get close.
