There is a lot of excitement amongst Rangers fans when it comes to the club's recent takeover by an American consortium consisting of 49ers Enterprises and Andrew Cavenagh. It is not hard to see why. Having witnessed Celtic win one trophy after another while there has been a lack of silverware at Ibrox, they are hoping that this proves to be a turning for the team.

Of course, so far, the transfer activity has not shown much to be excited about. Lyall Cameron has been brought in as a free agent and a deal has been agreed to sign Max Aaron on a straight loan without any clause.

Of course, that has not stopped rumours from cropping up. In fact, the latest one from the Daily Record will amuse Celtic fans.

Rangers have been linked with three players who have a transfer valuation in the region of £40 million. They are Aaron Ramsdale, Flynn Downes and Matija Frigan.

It is safe to say that the Rangers are expected to invest more heavily, at least in the next few transfer windows, following their change in ownership. Yet, it is hard to imagine that the club will go as far as splashing out that kind of money to secure signings.

Also, one cannot overlook the fact that such players might not want to end up joining the Rangers. The club have struggled to compete for trophies on a consistent basis and this might not be the career boost they are looking for right now.

Of course, Celtic won't be wasting much time thinking about the goings-on at Ibrox. They have their own issues to take care of this summer and a number of positions in the squad are in need of reinforcements. Let's see how much ambition the Hoops show.
