The result against St Johnstone should come as a wake-up call for Celtic. Brendan Rodgers' side have been off the boil for months now, dropping points on a regular basis. Perhaps it is tough to remain focused on a title race when the team in second is miles behind. But even then, there are some standards that need to met every time you pull the green-and-white jersey on.

Some players are not meeting those standards at the moment. Unfortunately, one of them was their best performer in the first half of the campaign.

Nicolas Kuhn was the best player in Scotland, and by a country mile, in the first half of the 24/25 campaign. He was scoring and assisting for fun.

The transfer rumours followed. There were even suggestions that it could take a transfer fee north of £30 million to sign the German winger. But since the turn of the year, Kuhn has looked like a shell of the player we saw in the first half of the season.

It was another day to forget for Kuhn at McDiarmid Park. He looks completely devoid of confidence at the moment and was taken off at half-time, once again.

Many have started to question why Kuhn is getting starts in the first place. He has been struggling for quite some time now but Rodgers has decided to stick with him rather than giving the nod to Yang Hyun-jun, who has been one of Celtic's best players in 2025.

One Celtic fan wrote on X: "If we get a decent offer for Kuhn in the summer I'd take it."

Another said: "I don’t think losing Kuhn in the summer will be a big concern."

A third fan added: "Johnston and Kuhn are off in the summer the drop off from both is massive."

One has to wonder whether all the speculation about his future has had a part in Kuhn's struggles in recent times. But it is safe to say that the German winger's performances are not helping his chances of securing a big move in the summer.
