It is always interesting for Celtic fans to keep an eye out for former players and coaches who have left Parkhead but remain in the game in a coaching or managerial capacity. We can see quite a few of them in Scottish football right now, whether it be Neil Lennon at Dunfermline Athletic or Scott Brown at Ayr United.

Of course, a lot of them will be dreaming about managing Celtic someday. In the case of Lennon, he has already done it twice and to plenty of success. Will anybody be able to follow that? We will find out soon.

Recently, a former Celtic coach has made the headlines by abruptly quitting as the manager of his Irish club. It is a decision that not many had seen coming.

As reported by BBC, Damien Duff has left as manager of League of Ireland Premier Division champions Shelbourne. They currently sit in sixth place.

Duff enjoyed a decent bit of success as a player, playing at clubs like Chelsea, and he was a fan favourite during his coaching stint at Celtic. Of course, there was the Irish connection to thank for it as well.

Duff was showing a ton of potential as a manager at Shelbourne and guided them to their first league title in 18 years not too long ago. As a result, his departure has come as a surprise to many of their fans.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Duff in management. Whatever it is, we can only wish him the best of luck.

He most certainly has a ton of potential as a manager. Could he decide to take a step back from management and become a part of Brendan Rodgers' backroom team at some point?
