Celtic have fresh competition for an attacker they are interested in this summer. The Bhoys are still working away to try to ramp up their summer transfer interest having struggled so far.

Martin O'Neill has admitted he and the club have found it hard to convince players to move to Glasgow this summer, with only one new signing agreed so far. Camilo Duran was signed for £5.5million, but other than that, the wait goes on.

Fans are growing more and more frustrated, but club officials are continuing their efforts to convince fans that work is going on behind the scenes.

Celtic now have fresh competition for Elijah Just

Celtic have been linked with Motherwell star Elijah Just for much of the summer, with the forward's World Cup form for New Zealand only ramping up speculation.

Just did impress for Motherwell in the club season, so the links were already present, scoring seven and assisting eight last term. He then burst onto the scene at the World Cup with New Zealand, scoring twice in their first game, and while he didn't score again, he was their most dangerous player ahead of their group stage exit.

Celtic would likely have to pay between £4million and £5million, with Motherwell under no pressure to sell, beyond the fact the player might push for a move if a big opportunity comes up.

And it looks as though he will have options, with Championship club Swansea City now reportedly interested. According to Record Sport, the Swans are eyeing a possible move for Just as they look to put together a playoff bid in the coming season.

Swansea signed Stephen Welsh from Celtic this summer, and the defender spent last season on loan with Motherwell, so he was a teammate of Just's.

That's not to say it offers the Welsh club any kind of advantage, but it does give Just a point of reference at the club. Should Celtic make the move, one would like to think they hold an advantage over Swansea, given they can offer potential league titles and European football, possibly Champions League football.

But Celtic have been slow in their transfer decision-making, so they will need to step things up if they are to win transfer races like this one, which may require urgency given the competition. The links haven't gone away this summer, but there also hasn't been a concrete move from the Hoops.
