There could be more movement at Celtic this January than had been initially expected. The Hoops have been linked with a lot of players over the past several weeks. On the other hand, there are quite a few players who could end up departing Parkhead as well in search of playing time after failing to get into Brendan Rodgers' team.

Over the past few weeks, Celtic's performances have been underwhelming. There is clearly room for improvement in this team and perhaps the need to bring in a few fresh faces as well.

Of course, it is always difficult to differentiate between fact and fiction when it comes to transfer rumours. Which areas will Celtic be looking to strengthen moving forward though?

As reported by Video Celts, Stephen McGowan told Daily Mail readers about the situation:

"Rodgers held a transfer planning summit with major shareholder Dermot Desmond and chief executive Michael Nicholson in Dublin last week, when they discussed new arrivals in January.

A left-winger is a priority. Regardless of whether left-back Greg Taylor commits to a new deal, Rodgers would also like to secure Kieran Tierney for a Parkhead return."

Luis Palma is one player who looks almost certain to leave Celtic this January. The Honduran winger had been very impressive during his first few months with the club but has since slipped down the pecking order. This season, he has barely featured in Rodgers' plans and it might be best for both parties to part ways.

Of course, if Palma left, Celtic would need to bring in a replacement on the left flank. They have been linked with players like Michel-Ange Balikwisha, Bazoumana Toure, Jota and a few others who could fill that spot in Rodgers' squad.

Everybody has heard about the Kieran Tierney return rumours already as well. The Scottish left-back looks set to leave Arsenal, whether it be next month or in the summer, after the club passed on the chance to extend his contract by another year. A move back to Celtic Park seems to be a real possibility and let's see if it ends up materialising or not.
