Nobody can deny that Celtic have remained busy throughout the summer transfer window. Early on, it had looked like the club were keen to get their business done early. Of course, after what we have seen over the past couple of weeks, those hopes seem misplaced. But that does not mean that they have remained in one place.
Instead, the focus has been on finding new homes for players who are not in Brendan Rodgers' plans. Hopefully, it is just a case of them balancing the books and creating space in the squad before going on a late window transfer spree. At least that is what the fans will be hoping.
Earlier, Adam Montgomery's loan exit was announced. And now, there is further transfer activity, with a Brendan Rodgers signing heading for the exit door, this time on a permanent basis.
As announced by Celtic on social media, Kwon Hyeokkyu has left the club to join Nantes on a permanent transfer. The French club have made the official announcement as well, releasing the welcome video.

Celtic make double announcement as Brendan Rodgers signing leaves
Kwon was signed in the summer of 2023, the one in which Rodgers was brought back for his second spell as Celtic boss. But the South Korean defensive midfielder never appeared to catch the eye of the manager.
He did not make a single appearance for Celtic. Instead, he spent time out on loan at clubs like St Mirren and Hibernian, doing well but not brilliantly. Now, he has ended up leaving on a permanent basis, joining Nantes.
It is actually remarkable that Kwon has ended up in a top five European league, considering how lacklustre his stint at Celtic was. It shows that there is certainly more than one way to reach that level. Of course, a bit of luck has never hurt anybody either.
We can only wish Kwon the best of luck in his new adventure. Clearly it did not work out for him at Celtic but let's hope that he has a much better time at Nantes.
Considering how Celtic go about doing their business, it is very likely that they have included a sell-on clause in Kwon's deal. So, his doing well at Nantes could land the club a windfall in the future. As for the defensive midfield position, it does look like it is one they are still trying to strengthen. They have been linked with quite a few players of that profile although it remains to be seen if a signing will be made before the transfer window closes.
