Celtic have already signed one free agent striker recently, reuniting Kelechi Iheanacho with Brendan Rodgers. It is under the management of the Northern Irishman that the Nigerian international played the best football of his career during their time together at Leicester City. It remains to be seen if he can rediscover his best at Parkhead after underwhelming stints at Sevilla and Middlesbrough.

Going into deadline day, the talk was about Celtic wanting to sign not one, but two strikers. Could they look towards the free agency market to bring in another? With the fans unhappy, the board are under pressure to make something happen over the coming days and weeks.

There are still a few intriguing names available. One of them is that of Paco Alcacer, who has played for some of the biggest clubs in world football and at 32 years of age, should still have a decent bit of football left in his boots.

Alcacer has been a free agent since July with his most recent stints coming in the Middle East. But he has also turned out for clubs like Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Villarreal. He also has 12 international goals and 19 matches for Spain.

Signing someone like Alcacer on a similar deal to Iheanacho would not be the worst idea in the world. Yes, both seem to be past their best. At least it gives Celtic two options, and they can hope that at least one works out.

Alcacer was at Barcelona during the prime Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar days. Naturally, he did not feature a ton. Not many would do ahead of those three. But did score 15 goals for them though.

Alcacer's best football clearly came at Borussia Dortmund. In 47 appearances for them, he scored 26 goals and provided 4 assists. A tremendous return.
