Cameron Carter-Vickers has been Celtic's starting centre-back since he arrived in the summer of 2021. He was initially on a loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur but was signed on a permanent basis a year later. Along the way, he has had his injury problems but when fit and available, the American is a nailed-on starter for the Hoops.
Eventually, he was always going to be linked with a move away from Celtic. And it looks like those rumours have cropped up this summer.
Carter-Vickers has been linked with the 49ers-owned Leeds United in this summer transfer window, as they look to make an impression after making it back to the Premier League. West Ham United and Sunderland are believed to hold an interest in the centre-back as well.
But as reported by the Daily Record, there has been no contact made with Celtic and Brendan Rodgers is unaware of any moves. Also, Carter-Vickers is believed to be happy and settled in Scotland.
Celtic stance amid rumours linking Carter-Vickers with Leeds United, West Ham and Sunderland
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Carter-Vickers. It is not hard to see why the idea of a return to England might interest him. But Celtic seem to be relaxed about the situation as things stand.
The defender has been a stalwart at the back for Celtic. The issue the club are facing is finding a suitable partner for him on the left-hand side of central defence. So, parting ways with Carter-Vickers right now should not even be a consideration at this point.
Also, with four more years left on Carter-Vickers' contract, Celtic are in a strong position. If any club wants to sign him, they would need to pay a significant transfer fee.
Also, Carter-Vickers should be wary of joining newly promoted clubs like Leeds United and Sunderland. Rarely do such teams manage to remain in the Premier League for long and at 27 years of age, he won't want to be back playing Championship football.
