When Ange Postecoglou left Celtic to join Tottenham Hotspur, the fans were not pleased. They seemed pretty happy a couple of years down the line though as they saw the Australian guide Spurs to the UEFA Europa League after what had been a terrible domestic campaign for them. This was their first trophy in 17 years and ended a 41-year drought in Europe. But then, as we all know, he always wins things in his second second. Word given, word kept.

Of course, it was a final between the 16th and 17th team in the Premier League. Ultimately, it was Postecoglou's side that came out on top while Manchester United saw any hopes of salvaging the campaign evaporate after a forgettable performance in the final.

Manchester United are set to continue with Ruben Amorim as manager though, despite the bad run of results since his appointment. On the other hand, there is a lot more uncertainty around the future of Postecoglou, even though the Celtic hero has guided them to silverware, something that the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte were not able to.

Brendan Rodgers had a classy message for his predecessor following Postecoglou's Europa League triumph. As reported by The Celtic Way, the Northern Irishman said:

"Yeah, it was brilliant.

“I am so pleased for Ange on a personal level. It has obviously been a tough season, and he has had to cope with a lot of nonsense this year.

“So, to see him happy at the end of the game and the team, I was so pleased for him."

If this is the end of Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur, he gets to leave with his head held high as a champion. But one would hope that he gets another chance after guiding them to a trophy. That's the least he deserves after pulling off the impossible.

As for Celtic, this is already looking like a pretty good week and there could be more to come. They are set to take on Aberdeen in the final of the Scottish Cup at Hampden Park.

Of course, that fixture will bring up a lot of happy memories for Rodgers and Celtic fans. Hopefully, this weekend proves to be just as enjoyable and ends with another treble for the Hoops. After all, Postecoglou is not the only one who always wins things in his second season.
