It is pretty clear that the Celtic board are under some pressure right now. After failing to meet even the minimum expectations set for them during the summer transfer window, it looks like the fans are demanding change. Of course, those behind the scenes will be hoping for the results and performances to improve, so that matters can settle down a bit.
They still have plenty of issues that they need to take care of, though, if they want to win back the supporters. One of them has to be dealing with the recent leak that had emerged in the media.
It clearly was not something you would have been expecting at this point of the season. As reported by The Scottish Sun, one source told them senior figures inside the club believe Brendan Rodgers is engineering his exit.
Well, it remains to be seen how things play out for Celtic from here. As reported by CeltsAreHere, Peter Grant believes the club chiefs will be working behind the scenes to find out who leaked a story about Rodgers last week.
Celtic board tipped to make decision about controversy
That being said, Grant also feels that Rodgers' focus will now be back on matters on the pitch rather than focusing on what has already happened and out of his control. He said on the Go Radio Football Show:
"I’m sure there will, but I think Brendan’s focus now will be exactly the way it ended.
“Seeing the supporters on the pitch with the players is the best thing the way Celtic could answer the questions that was asked during the week.
“Seeing the supporters, with the players delighted they won a game, that’s the way you want to finish a week.
“And let’s be honest, it’s the only thing fans want to see is your team winning and being successful."
It is a difficult position to be in if you are Rodgers as well. You clearly have not been dealt the best hand, going into the season.
Now, it is up to Rodgers to get the best out of the squad available to him and somehow guide Celtic to another title. It is worth pointing out that he is being helped by the Rangers in this regard, who seem to have taken several steps back and are yet to win after the first five league games.
