Celtic took one step closer to the league title with their 5-1 win over Kilmarnock this weekend. It was also a great bounce-back result after the Hoops had had to face heavy criticism following their loss to St Johnstone last week. It is safe to say that Brendan Rodgers' side looked good but over the summer, some changes are expected to be made to the squad regardless.
One area where Celtic could look to strengthen is on the flanks. Nicolas Kuhn has struggled for form lately and has also been linked with a move away. On the other hand, Daizen Maeda is mostly playing as a striker lately, and thriving in that role.
So, the Hoops could with another option on the wings. They were heavily linked with a move for Sondre Orjeseater of Sarpsborg 08 in the winter but could not get a deal over the line.
There is another winger that they have been linked with for some time though. And judging from his recent comments, it sounds like he is ready for a move this summer, if things out.
Celtic put on alert as £4m transfer target sounds ready for move this summer
The player we are talking about is none other than Michel-Ange Balikwisha, the 23-year-old Belgian winger currently playing at Royal Antwerp. He has confirmed that Celtic did come knocking last summer. As reported by the Daily Record, he added:
"I don't know whether I will leave this summer. The chairman and Marc Overmars will be in charge of that in the coming weeks.
"How I end the play-offs will determine a lot.
"If I continue on this path with the way I am playing, things can go quickly.
"And if it turns out tomorrow that my Antwerp story is coming to an end, then I hope to sign elsewhere in time, so that I can play a farewell match for the fans."
Those sound like the comments of someone who is very open to the idea of a transfer. Now, it remains to be seen whether a move to Celtic ends up happening or not.
Incidentally, Celtic have been heavily linked with a move for the Belgian winger in recent weeks. And it is believed that it will take a transfer fee of around £4 million to sign him this summer. That is significantly lower than the figures that had been suggested the last time around.
