Mathias Kvistgaarden has been linked with a move to Celtic for the past few seasons now. It is also believed that the club have tried more than once to make it happen but so far, it has not materialised. Along the way, the Danish forward has continued to improve and the rumours about a Parkhead switch have never really gone away.
As we head towards the summer transfer window, Celtic are once again believed to have Kvistgaarden on their radar. And the good news is, the forward looks likely to leave Brondby IF this time around in order to take the next step in his career.
At 22 years of age, he has already made more than 100 appearances for Brondby. It might be time for a change in scenery.
When asked when he wants to make a move away from Brondby in order to take the next step, Kvistgaarden told TV 2 Sport:
"Uhh ... It could be soon. There will be a transfer window this summer, which will be very exciting. But we'll have to see what happens."
Mathias Kvistgaarden drops big transfer hint amid rumours of Celtic move this summer
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Kvistgaarden. Of course, you can never expect a player to openly admit that he is leaving, but that is a strong hint that the Dane is considering it ahead of the summer transfer window.
Of course, many will question whether Celtic even need to bring in a big-money striker this summer. Brondby are expected to look for a transfer fee north of £10 million in order to part ways with their star man in the upcoming window.
Celtic already have Daizen Maeda, who has been in terrific goalscoring form this season and has 31 goals to his name already. They shelled out a significant fee to sign Adam Idah last summer as well, and we are hoping to see a lot more from him.
