It is never ideal for a club like Celtic to make too many changes in the winter transfer window. Key players leaving is always a problem. On the other hand, fresh faces are expected to take some time to adjust to their new surroundings before they can start producing their best performances for the Hoops.
Unfortunately, Celtic are set to say goodbye to one of their most important players. Kyogo will be leaving the club in order to join Rennes. The deal is as good as done.
On the other hand, they are set to welcome back a club hero in the form of Jota. Thankfully, it looks like that move will get over the line soon as well, although the time remains uncertain.
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic have agreed terms with Jota over a return to Parkhead from Rennes. He is said to be keen on a return to Glasgow where he is still held in high esteem by the supporters.
Celtic agree terms over next transfer signing
It was only 18 months ago that Jota left Celtic in order to join Al-Ittihad. And it would be safe to say that he has endured a tough time since departing Glasgow.
Jota was never a part of plans at Al-Ittihad despite joining them in a £25 million move. He was being linked with a move away from the club merely months after arriving there and it was very clear that it was not going to work out for the Portuguese winger.
He was linked with a return to Celtic in the summer as well. Jota ended up joining Rennes though. But luck was not on his side. After showing some early promise, the club changed managers and the Portuguese winger does not seem to be a part of Jorge Sampaoli's plans.
That has opened the door for a return to Celtic. And now, it seems like only a matter of time before it materialises.
