The Celtic recruitment chiefs will finally put their money where their mouths are, with a big-money deal now reportedly agreed.
The Bhoys chiefs have left fans mightily frustrated this summer amid their struggles to get deals done. Everyone from agents to the state of modern football itself has been blamed, but the bottom line is that this recruitment strategy has been ill-prepared and ill-executed.
But with the new season now just under a week away, Celtic have clicked into gear with a big-money deal.
Celtic agree deal to sign Denmark star Kasper Hogh
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Celtic have agreed a deal worth £11million plus add-ons to sign Bodo/Glimt frontman Kasper Hogh, who has been heavily linked with a move over the last week or so.
He wrote on X: "Celtic set to sign Bodø/Glimt striker Kasper Høgh. Deal is worth around £11m plus add-ons and is a club record transfer for Celtic. Høgh has been given permission to undergo a medical and is expected to sign a 4+1 contract."
Hogh is in the midst of a stunning season that has seen him score seven and assist five in just 12 league games, with the Norwegian season ongoing. Hogh has also scored five Champions League goals, and he is a Denmark international.
Still only 25 years of age, Hogh still has potential to reach, and Celtic have identified him as the ideal player to fill their vacant striker spot after they failed to reach a new deal with Kelechi Iheanacho.
Hogh joins fellow new signing Camilo Duran in the front line, and it's likely that the arrival will conclude the business in the striker position, at least in terms of incomings.
The advantage of signing Hogh is also that he will not need a pre-season, given he is already 12 games into a new season. That should mean he is raring to go for the opening game of the season against Dundee a week on Monday, and he will also be ready to go for the start of the Champions League qualifiers in just a couple of weeks.
In Duran and Hogh, Celtic will have signed two players with experience scoring in the Champions League, with Duran also having netted five in UEFA's premier competition last season. Martin O'Neill will be hoping that experience will help his side get over the line in the qualifiers, where the Hoops stumbled and fell last season.
