This might be the first piece of positive news around Celtic, and the first sign of a step in the right direction, that we have gotten in a while now. It might be mid-October but it looks like the Hoops are already putting plans in place for the January window. In fact, it appears that their first signing of the winter is set to be agreed very soon.
Celtic have been linked with quite a few Liverpool players in recent years. But it has not exactly worked out when it comes to getting deals over the line.
One name that a lot of Celtic fans will remember is that of Bobby Clark. He was linked with a move to Parkhead in the summer of 2024 before eventually joining RB Salzburg in a £10 million deal.
Well, it has not exactly worked out for Clark at RB Salzburg and now, he finds himself on loan at Derby County. And if reports coming out of England are accurate then we can expect to see him in a Celtic jersey very soon.
Celtic set to agree £6m deal to sign former Liverpool player in January
As reported by The Times (via Daily Record), Celtic are on the brink of landing the versatile midfielder for £6million in January. Clark is seeking a permanent move away from Salzburg.
Clark was considered one of the brightest talents in the Liverpool youth system and even made 14 appearances for their senior team before his move to RB Salzburg last summer. He played 25 times for them before moving to Derby County on loan. He has been capped by England at multiple youth international levels.
Now, it looks like Clark is looking for another change of scenery and Celtic have reignited their interest in the midfielder. It looks like they are close to getting a deal done too, which is brilliant news.
