Celtic are looking to make some additions to their squad and they need to, based on some of their recent performances. The Hoops were looking unstoppable earlier on in the season but have stumbled quite a few times in recent weeks including a 3-0 defeat against the Rangers away at Ibrox earlier this month.

Yet, with half the winter window already gone, Celtic are yet to make a single addition to their squad. Hopefully, things will pick up in the second half of this transfer period.

One player they have been linked with recently is Louie Barry. The Aston Villa starlet shined while on loan at Stockport County in the first half of the season, scoring 16 goals. He was recalled by the Premier League club recently.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Celtic and Lens have made offers for Barry but he looks likely to stay at Aston Villa. The Glasgow giants are understood to have proposed £5 million with a further £5 million in add-ons plus a buy-back option for the 21-year-old forward.

Barry is 21 years of age and has a proven goalscoring record, not only at Stockport County but also in youth football. It remains to be seen if he leaves Aston Villa in search of consistent playing time or not.

Barry is capable of playing not only as a centre forward but as a winger as well. These are both positions where Celtic are believed to be looking to strengthen.

Of course, Barry is not the only forward Celtic have been linked with in recent times. And at this moment, it looks like he is more likely to remain at Aston Villa. Another loan spell, this time in the Championship, might be the next step in his development.
