Celtic need to strengthen in a few positions. Some of their recent performances have shown that as the high-flying form from earlier in the season is starting to feel like a distant memory. The 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Rangers was not a one-off. The Hopps have looked shaky and unconvincing in quite a few games recently.

Brendan Rodgers' side could do with a few fresh faces. Especially going forward, where they have looked out of ideas at times when Nicolas Kuhn is not playing.

A forward from Aston Villa appears to have caught the eye of Celtic. An opening transfer bid for the youngster might not be far away either as the Hoops look to test the Premier League club's resolve.

As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic are set to test Aston Villa's resolve with an opening seven-figure transfer bid for Louie Barry. The Premier League club would prefer for him to sign a new deal and then they would put him out on loan to the Championship with the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough and Stoke City said to be interested.

Barry is capable of playing through the middle or on the flanks. He had an excellent first half of the 24/25 season while on loan at Stockport County.

He scored 15 goals in 23 appearances in League One this season before being recalled by Aston Villa. Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.

Of course, one could argue that Barry's goals came in League One but there are some players capable of playing at every level. Is the Aston Villa starlet one of them? Only one way to find out. Does his future lie at Celtic Park? Only time shall tell.
