Celta Vigo boss Claudio Giraldez admits his side are 'finding it hard to win' ahead of Thursday night's date with Celtic in the Europa League.

Celta did win over the weekend, defeating Alavez to move up to eighth in the table and to within goal difference of the team they beat.

But they have not done well in Europe so far, losing to Omonoia and Juventus, and they held the latter until the final minute of the game, while they also led at one stage.

They prepare to head to Glasgow knowing they likely need to win to avoid giving themselves too much to do to reach the knockout stage, and the same applies to Celtic, who have also lost their first two games.

Speaking after his side's win over the weekend, Celtic boss Giraldez said: "I’m happy with the result. The first half was very lacking in energy, with a very poor understanding of the game. In the second half, in terms of attitude, effort, jumping, and being more aggressive, we improved.

"The change of system at half-time allowed Javi Rodríguez and Carreira to cause them a lot of problems. We were lucky to be accurate in those moments, and when we had the game in our favour, but we made many absurd decisions.

"We many silly turnovers. We simply had to keep possession without turning the ball. When we did turn the ball, we had plenty of time. I'm not happy with the match. I think right now we need to start picking up points. We're finding it very difficult to win.

"This is what we have to understand: we all have to work together at maximum intensity to get a victory, because they're very hard to come by. I'm very happy to see us seventh in the standings, a little more comfortable.

"There was a sense of heart and maturity that we showed today. We survived and we leave with the satisfaction that the team is capable of overcoming obstacles.”

It's going to be a huge game for both teams on Thursday night, and both sides go into it on the back of a big league win.
