Celta Vigo have been dealt a big injury blow ahead of Thursday night's Europa League clash with Celtic at Parkhead.

The Hoops are preparing to welcome the Spanish West coast side on the back of two straight defeats to kick off their Europa League campaign, and it's a game they can't afford to lose if they want to progress.

Mathematically, it would still be possible to progress with a defeat, but realistically, it would be a tough task, with Celtic then needing 9-10 points from five games, keeping in mind they still have to play Marseille.

Crucially, Celta haven't done any better, losing to Omonoia and Juventus, so they will also be seeing this game as a must-win, and they too have Marseille still on their fixture list.

But ahead of their trip to Glasgow, Celta have confirmed that they have lost World Cup-winning striker Borja Iglesias to injury, the man known affectionately as 'the panda' in Spain.

The veteran target man has suffered a tear in his soleus muscle, which is one of the calf muscles, picking up the injury during Tuesday's training session. He will now be treated by the club's medical staff and monitored as he begins his recovery.

Calf injuries are typically more common for older players, and they can be tricky rehab processes.

But what we do know is that there is no chance of Iglesias playing against Celtic, which is something the Bhoys will welcome.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has been ruled out for Thursday night, so it would have been a tough task to deal with Iglesias without a physical and experienced defender. Celta also have veteran striker Iago Aspas, although Ferran Jutgla started their most recent Europa League clash, against Juventus, up front.

Celta actually led that clash with the Old Lady, but they ultimately conceded a second-half equaliser and then a stoppage time winner.
