Callum Osmand had a dream return from injury on Saturday when he netted Celtic's third goal to secure their fifth consecutive league title beyond any doubt. Having not featured since November, it was exciting to see him back on the pitch, and he has spoken out about his feelings after the big occasion.
Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, he said: "I’ve got no words. It feels like my life is like a movie. This is unbelievable, and I don’t think there’s a better club in the world.
"I had six months, and I wasn’t able to give anything, and it was out of my hands, and it was really tough. But the lads have been unbelievable. I’ve just put the cherry on the cake. I’m so happy.
"To be honest, I thought there was a keeper in goal, and I was just running, thinking I could mess this up, but as soon as I saw there was no keeper, my eyes lit up, and I just started smiling. It was amazing.
"I love this club so much. I’ve only been here a year. I wanted to give so much more this year, but you can’t, and it was out of my control.
"But I know what I can bring to the team, and I was ready. I’ve worked hard, and it wasn’t a fun six months, but this just makes it all worth it, and the fans are just at another level. They’re the best in the world."
Osmand will have much more to give next season
Hopefully, Osmand will stay fit going into next season, as he has a lot to offer. With Johnny Kenny set to return from loan, those two could be our only attacking options, unless the club offer a last-minute contract extension to Kelechi Iheanacho. Of course, there will be work done in the transfer market to bring in more players, but with no concrete news as of yet, it's a difficult wait for Hoops fans.
The one major positive to take is that Osmand will be a stronger player because of his recovery. It takes a lot of mental strength to come back and score on your return from such a long period of time out, and he'll be able to do good things next season should he be trusted to start.
We have no idea who the next Celtic manager will be yet, but that decision should be made sooner rather than later. All we can hope is that whoever it is will give Osmand his chance to really shine.
