There are a lot of things that Celtic have done well over the years. Their trophy cabinet is proof of that. But at the same time, that does not mean that there are no areas for them to improve. One of them is most certainly the club's record when it comes to promoting academy standouts to the senior team and giving them significant playing time.
Over the years, we have seen so many talented youngsters not get a genuine chance to succeed at the senior level. The last to make the jump and become a starter was Kieran Tierney.
Subsequently, this has resulted in a number of youngsters leaving Celtic early on in their careers rather than waiting for their chances to come at Parkhead. Ben Doak, Rocco Vata and several others have chosen this path.
The latest player to make an impact at the youth and developmental level for Celtic is Daniel Cummings. And as reported by the Daily Mail, Brentford, Wolves, Fulham, Ipswich Town, Sunderland and Burnley feature among a number of English clubs who have run checks on the forward.
Brentford looking to sign in-form Celtic forward
Cummings has been in glittering form this season. But that has not translated into first-team opportunities so far.
The 18-year-old forward has not made his Celtic debut despite his impressive scoring record at the youth level. Many believe that he is good enough to be handed the spot behind Kyogo and Adam Idah as the third-choice striker.
Of course, it remains to be seen if opportunities will come. The Hoops have a tough fixture list over the festive period and naturally, that might open up a window of opportunity for Cummings to be given some playing time. If he does not get that, do not be surprised if he starts looking at options elsewhere, if he is not already.
