One would imagine that Brendan Rodgers is not particularly pleased with how things have gone for Celtic so far in this summer transfer window. Yes, signing Kieran Tierney was a major coup and Benjamin Nygren looks like a quality addition as well. Even Hayato Inamura has pleasantly surprised a ton of people. But overall, are the Hoops stronger now than they were a year ago? That's most likely not the case.

Defensive midfield is one area that needs to be addressed. Judging by the rumours, that is a position where the Hoops have been looking to strengthen this summer as they have been linked with plenty of such players who can add strength there. So far, no addition has been made though.

Hopefully, an addition will be made soon. And it looks like Rodgers has his eye on a player currently playing for his former side Liverpool.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Rodgers has taken a shine to Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic. The Premier League champions are open to letting the 20-year-old Spanish midfielder leave this summer, with a loan-to-buy deal being the likely structure.

Bajcetic has made quite a few appearances for Liverpool so far. But that being said, he is nowhere near being a regular contributor for the club.

With Liverpool continuing to strengthen, it is hard to imagine that Bajcetic's situation will change next season. So, the Spaniard might have to assess his options. He spent time out on loan at two clubs in the 24/25 campaign.

It remains to be seen if Celtic end up making a serious push to sign Bajcetic from Liverpool this summer. He is not the only defensive midfielder that they have been linked with in recent times but ultimately, the speculation has to lead somewhere.
