It would be safe to say that Celtic have a lot to worry about right now. They have an important Champions League qualifier play-off second leg coming up against Kairat Almaty away in Kazakhstan. That will be followed by a trip to Ibrox to take on the Rangers in the Scottish Premiership next weekend.

So, one could argue that this is the most important week of Celtic's season. Hopefully, we are going to get two wins.

Amid all this, news has cropped up though that Rodgers is being lined up for a move away from Parkhead. As reported by The Sun, Nottingham Forest have made the Celtic boss their top manager target with Nuno Espirito Santo expected to be sacked next week.

Of course, Rodgers did leave Celtic in the middle of his contract the first time around to join Leicester City. We all remember what the reaction was to that move. And since his return, he has constantly insisted that he has no plans of doing the same. In fact, he spoke on the matter before the recent game against Livingston.

Brendan Rodgers' thoughts on Celtic exit amid Nottingham Forest news

As reported by Sky Sports on August 22, when asked if there was a chance the current situation would accelerate an exit before his contract expires next summer, Rodgers said:

"Absolutely no chance. We've done that one before. It didn't go down well.

"I said from the first day, and there's no hidden messages, and there's no this and that, I said I'd be here for three years. I'm here for three years."

So, let's see how the upcoming couple of games play out at Celtic. But if you are a Nottingham Forest fan, do not expect to see Rodgers arrive at the club anytime soon.

It does not feel like Rodgers has any intention of repeating what happened the last time around. And while he found success with the Foxes in England, winning the FA Cup and the Community Shield, it is pretty clear that he had enough reason to make a comeback to Parkhead.

Yes, the Nottingham Forest job would catch the eye of most managers. That being said, Rodgers is not someone who would lack suitors if he did become available next summer as a free agent.

Of course, initially, the hope was that Rodgers would sign a contract extension at Celtic. But after the manner in which this summer transfer window has been handled, we do not anticipate that happening.
