Brendan Rodgers' long-term future at Celtic remains in question, even though he has made it clear that he plans to remain at the club next season. While the Northern Irishman won't be leaving this summer, one cannot forget that his contract runs out after the 25/26 campaign and he has not made a commitment beyond that so far.
A lot might end up depending on how much backing Rodgers receives from Celtic over the next two transfer windows. So far, one has to admit that the club have not done enough for the Northern Irish manager.
On more than one occasion, he has called for moves to be made but the club have failed to. If that continues, it would not be a surprise to see Rodgers decide to depart Celtic at the end of his contract. So, let's just hope that Celtic make the most of this window to convince him that Parkhead is the place to be for the long term.
As reported by Football Insider, Rodgers seems likely to now push for Kyogo's return this summer after Jota's injury. The manager will undoubtedly welcome his former striker back into the fold.
Brendan Rodgers to push for blockbuster Celtic return
Kyogo left in the winter to join Rennes. But that moves has proven to be a major mistake for the Japanese forward, who is not even making matchday squads anymore.
On the other hand, Jota did well after returning to Celtic in the winter. But he has not suffered a long-term injury and will be out for six to nine months.
In this situation, it might make sense for Celtic to bring back Kyogo. He knows the system well and is a proven success story in Scottish football. It would be easy to put him back in the team and move Daizen Maeda to the flank again.
