Brendan Rodgers resigned from Celtic earlier in the season and has already found a new job, being announced as the new Al-Qadsiah manager recently. This was the second time that he departed Parkhead in the middle of a campaign. In 2019, he moved to Leicester City. This time around, he handed in a resignation with the team struggling and the behind-the-scenes situation becoming unsustainable.

Rodgers will have surely pocketed a significant payrise when he moved to Al-Qadsiah. On the other hand, it looks like Celtic have significantly downgraded in the dugout with Wilfried Nancy losing his first four games in charge and looking completely out of his depth in Glasgow. There already is a feeling of inevitability about his sacking although the board won't be keen to admit defeat so quickly and might allow this to drag on for much longer than it needs to be.

Rodgers becoming Al-Qadsiah manager might bring further bad news for Celtic fans. It looks like he might have his eyes set on some of his favourites at Parkhead.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Rodgers is plotting a bid to take Callum McGregor to Al-Qadsiah. It is believed that Celtic will fight hard to keep their captain.

It is believed that Rodgers had tried to sign McGregor for Leicester City as well, but had failed. So, with the midfielder sticking around at Celtic in his prime, most would think that he would do the same at this point in his career.

It might not be as straightforward though. There have been rumours of McGregor not being the biggest fan of Nancy. If accurate, and if Celtic view the Frenchman as the long-term solution as manager, it might lead to the club captain considering his own future.

Celtic should not even consider parting ways with McGregor. He has come through the academy and captained the team to multiple trophies. At 32 years of age, he should have a decent bit left in the tank as well. In an ideal world, he will retire at the club.

Also, he is not far from becoming the most decorated player in the club's history either. That kind of history will surely mean something to McGregor. So, we do not imagine that he will leave at this point in time. Then again, we also would not have said that the new Celtic manager would lose his first four games in charge. Never say never in football.
