The rumours involving Kieran Tierney and a potential return to Celtic just refuse to go away. Of course, we all know his history with the Glasgow club. He grew up supporting the Hoops and continues to keep up with them despite leaving in 2019 to join Arsenal in a then-Scottish record transfer move.

Tierney enjoyed most of his success at Celtic Park under the management of Brendan Rodgers. Now, the Northern Irishman is back in the Parkhead hot seat after his own time down in England, managing Leicester City.

Could there be a reunion between Tierney and Rodgers at Celtic? He is expected to leave Arsenal soon, having completely out of the first-team picture in Mikel Arteta's side.

The rumours of a potential Celtic return have only intensified in recent days after Tierney attended a club charity event alongside Rodgers. He did not leave Arsenal in the summer as he was out injured. But a January loan exit seems a real possibility.

Brendan Rodgers' past comments about Kieran Tierney returning to Celtic

Of course, this is not the first time that Tierney has been linked with a return to Celtic. That was the case last year as well. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Rodgers had said back then:

"When I spoke to him down the road in the Premier League, every time we met up all we talked about was Celtic. He’s a Celtic man but he’s at a fantastic club in Arsenal.

"You can just never say never in football. Who knows what might happen?"

Rodgers recognised that Celtic would struggle to pay a major transfer fee to sign Tierney or match his wages at Arsenal. But interestingly, he did not rule a move out, as the manager said:

"I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t be able to pay the huge salary he’s on. However, one can never tell. Kieran has an incredible history with the club. He was a massive part of my time here, so there will always be that link. You never know."

Since then, Tierney's transfer value has fallen significantly, as he has continued to struggle with injuries and spent last season out on loan at Real Sociedad. Now, it is believed that Arsenal might be willing to part ways with him for a figure in the region of £10 million, something that Celtic should be able to match if they really want to bring him back.
